This NORRA Mexican 1000 I had the opportunity to chase the legendary Meyers Manx brand, the pioneers who made off-road in what it is today. However this meant that I was going to chase the Safari expedition instead of the main race, a much different vibe... Less drama, less action but the same spirit for adventure.
In this blogpost I share what our journey looked like, some of the work delivered to the client among some other frames I found interesting.
Baja awaits...
The talent: Jim Chamberlain, constructor and driver of the first overall Baja 1000 winner vehicle back in '67.
Before finishing stage one, we got into a pickle...
(I wasn't driving)
We tried for hours to unstuck ourselves with every tool available to only end up getting us deep all way to the axle...
We had to ask for help, hours after the last race sweep pass thru...
A couple of locals came to the rescue, not being afraid of getting dirty, this guys started digging and digging and digging and then late into the night to finally give us a pull with their 90's tacoma 2wd with the slickest tires ever.
They got us out and we celebrate with them like old friends after a long day work.
They didn't ask for anything in return.
We got to the finish line by midnight...
Sometimes, it's nice to slow down.
Cheers.
